Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hite, age 92, of Wauseon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 01, 2018 in Fulton Manor, Wauseon, Ohio. Mrs. Hite was born in Findlay on July 26, 1925 to Richard E. and Olita (McKee) Daugherty. Mrs. Hite was a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church in Wauseon.

She was married to Herthel J. Hite on September 2, 1944 in Maysville, Ky. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1997. Also preceding her in death were son Herthel “Hersh” Hite Jr. and daughter Lorraine Pasch.

She is survived by 3 children; Ivan and David, both of Wauseon and Lucinda, of Liberty Center; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 3 daughters-in-law and one son-in-law. Betty, as she was better known, loved the Lord Jesus Christ more than life itself and was not afraid to tell you just that. Three of her favorite sayings were “Pray one for another!

”, “First I pushed, then I pulled, then I prayed,” and “Get your priorities in order! ” There was not a time you didn’t visit with her and witness her love for the Lord. She would say, “Praise Jesus”.

Betty was always positive, uplifting, inviting and always had a smile on her face. That, of course, was not the case when her kids were up to some of their shenanigans such as catching the corn field on fire, “accidentally” burning down the woods or faking a kidnapping as a April Fools joke. Yes, these things happened in the Hite household.

Fortunately, she was also a practical joker, had a strong heart and loved to have fun and lived life to the fullest. When summer came around, you could always find her at one of the many Polka fests throughout the area as she danced the night away. One of her favorite holidays was St. Patrick’s day as she was Irish through and through and very proud of her heritage.

She had the opportunity to travel many places including Korea, the UK and numerous other places. On a trip to the Caribbean when she was 79, she para-sailed for the first time. This was not a surprise to any of her family and friends as she had always been a dare devil and had a passion for water skiing well into her 80’s.

One of her highlights was skiing with a World Champion on the Maumee River and being featured in a major periodical. She will be missed by all that loved her and the many lives that she touched. Visitation for Betty will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Haven Heights Baptist Church, Wauseon, Ohio from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held 10 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Friday prior to the funeral service in the church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at Haven Heights Baptist Church, Wauseon, Ohio. Pastor Lance Wyse will officiate. Interment will follow in Wauseon Union Cemetery.

Funeral luncheon will follow the interment service and be served at the church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Haven Heights Baptist Church, Wauseon, Ohio. Serving as pallbearers will be; Jacob Hite, Bransen Reynolds, Nick Reynolds, Justin Hite, Carter Hite, Phillip Hite, Derek Zimmerman, Alex Zimmerman, Tim Pasch.
