Obituary for Mary Ellen Uhlenbrock Mary Ellen Uhlenbrock, was born to the union of Christian and Kathryn Henkel, on May 8, 1935 in Harmon, Illinois. She is the third born of this union, and was preceded in death by her brother, Richard J. Henkel of Harmon, IL, and sister, Rita McLaughlin of Amboy, IL. Mary is a graduate of Webster University, who taught in the Florissant School District for 10 years.
She married her beloved husband, Henry Everett Uhlenbrock on August 9, 1958. They shared 52 years together until the time of his passing in 2011. She had an antique business in Fenton called the ‘Talke of the Towne’, and most recently had been a real estate broker with Coldwell Banker for 30+ years.
She is the beloved mother of two, Greg (Diane) Uhlenbrock and Jill (Ken) Adkisson, she is the beloved grandmother of Ashley (Matt) Langenhorst, Sara (Adam) Kruger and Casey Adkisson. She is our dear aunt, cousin and friend to so many. Mary enjoyed many interests and skills including art, music, and poetry, antiques and history, as her greatest loves.
Her most pleasing talent was her passion for playing the piano and sharing that joy to those around her. She treasured life, valued people, and was appreciated by all. She had a heart large enough to include everyone…even those who others might overlook.
Her faith and devotion to her family and friends was never ending. She was generous, honest, and determined, and led a blessed and fruitful life. She cherished her family and provided them with a beautiful and fulfilled life in return.
Her motto as she wrote is, live for today, be kind to all, don’t stress yourself over small things and keep a clear conscience. She always had much to share and will truly be missed by everyone who was a part of her life. We are so very blessed by her and solemnly comforted knowing she is forever at peace and love, with her darling Hank.
