Mary’s Obituary In Loving Memory Mary Evelyn Dailey Mary Evelyn Dailey, a longtime area resident, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2019 in Colville, WA. She was born on March 17, 1921 in Potlatch, ID to Thomas and Myrtle (Potter) Woolverton. Mary was one of seven children and the second to last born.

She grew up on the family farm learning the values and hard work ethic from a bygone time. Mary’s chores on the farm included the milking and feeding of the cows and tending and harvesting of the garden. Her work ethic carried over into her studies at school.

She graduated as class valedictorian from Potlatch High School in 1940. Mary married Robert Edward Dailey on May 10, 1941 in Moscow, ID. After the birth of their son, Tom (1941), Bob joined the US Army in 1943.

Mary supported the home by doing various jobs and kept the home fires burning. A daughter, Pat, was born in 1946. The family would eventually make a move to Washington in 1953 to the North Basin area and then to Kettle Falls in 1956.

Mary always had such wonderful vegetable and flower gardens wherever they lived. She would do lots of canning so the family could enjoy the fruits of her labor. Mary also enjoyed knitting and sewing and even trap shooting with Bob.

They enjoyed traveling around the country visiting friends and family. Mary liked to keep busy as it gave her a sense of accomplishment. She was very independent, not asking for help from anyone, but providing help to others.

Mary didn’t always show emotion, a stiff upper lip so to speak, but her family certainly knew that they were loved. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son-in-law, John; parents and siblings. She is survived by her children; son, Tom (Alice) Dailey, Colville, WA and daughter, Pat Lindquist, Kettle Falls, WA; Grandsons, Stephen Dailey, David (Kristin) Dailey and one great grandchild, Quinn, all of Shoreline, WA.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Meyers Falls Cemetery. A memorial gathering is planned for a later date this spring.
