OBITUARY Mary G Wyss July 6, 1923 – September 6, 2018 Mary Gertrude ‘Gertie’ Wyss, 95, of Fort Wayne, IN went to be with the Lord Sept 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Gertie was born July 6, 1923, in Hoagland, IN, the daughter of Bernard and Agnes Hake. She was a graduate of Hoagland High School, worked at GE for 6 years, and married John F. Wyss on July 26, 1947.

He preceded her in death in 1997. She devoted her life to raising their eight children. She was a founding and lifelong member of St. Henry Catholic Church.

Gertie and John were actively involved in American Legion Post 296 for many years. She organized and ran the euchre club for decades. She was a loving person and made an impression on everyone she met.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Park Place Senior Living where Gertie was lovingly cared for the last 6 1/2 years. Extraordinary care was provided by nursing director, Mimi, and primary care nurse, Sharon. Gertie is survived by seven children: Jeanne Wyss of South Bend, Beverly Courtney of Tampa, FL, Greg (Renee) Wyss of Corunna, Christine (Kent) Giant, Paul (Kim) Wyss, Lisa (Lynn) Werling and Ann Wyss, all of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law Carla Wyss of Smithville, TN, thirteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, and sixteen nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, a son Steven Wyss, great-granddaughter Alayna Naber, brothers Clarence and Norbert Hake, and sisters Irene Homan and Esther Hake. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 at St Henry Catholic Church with calling one hour prior to the mass.
