Mary Jane Boothby February 20, 1947 – March 05, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Mary Jane Boothby, age 72, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Sanford Medical Center in West Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be Monday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. at the Holden Lutheran Church in rural Beardsley, MN, officiated by Rev. David Tonn.

There will be a private family burial at a later date in the Holden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Cardwell, Leland Nelson, Hal Teske, Cal Teske, Jason Arndt, and Jeremy Arndt. Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the church.

Mary Jane was born February 20, 1947, to Gilford and Violet (Arndt) Nelson in Browns Valley. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Mary Jane attended country school in rural Beardsley and graduated from Beardsley High School in 1965.

On June 19, 1965, Mary Jane married Francis Boothby at the Holden Lutheran Church in rural Beardsley. They lived and farmed in the Beardsley area. Mary Jane loved horses and taking care of animals, especially bottle feeding the goats.

She was a former member of the Northern Raiders Saddle Club and enjoyed trail rides and camping. She also liked tending to her flowers and gardening. Above all, Mary Jane loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Francis of Browns Valley; two children, Tonya (Steve) Schlueter of Corona, SD, and Chad Boothby of Browns Valley; three grandchildren, Jordan (Katelyn Schultz) Schlueter, Kasi and Tate Schlueter; a sister, Linda Teske of Ortonville; a brother, Steve (Debbie) Nelson of Clinton, MN; a brother-in-law, Larry Cardwell of Beardsley; and a sister-in-law, Susie Nelson of Beardsley. Mary Jane was preceded in death by infant twins, Jason and Jachele, and infant daughter, Gwen; her parents, Gilford and Violet; a brother, Jerome Nelson; and sister, JoAnn Cardwell.
