Obituary Service Details Wauseon: Mary Jane Prater, age 92, of Wauseon passed away late Sunday December 10, 2017 at the Grand Rapids Care Center. Prior to her retirement she had worked for the former McCord Corporation in Wauseon for many years. Mrs. Prater was born on March 17, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late AZ and the late Bertha Payne Root.

She married Kenneth Prater and he preceded her in death in 1968. Also preceding: Her son Gary Lee, granddaughter Melissa and brothers Charles, Orville, Jr., William & Jack Root. Mary Jane was very active and a past president of the VFW and the American Legion.

She enjoyed gardening and loved working out in her yard. Surviving are sons Kenneth Prater and Eric Prater. Daughter Judy Spector.

Five grandchildren and eight great grand children. Known as THE Favorite Aunt of all her nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm Saturday June 2, 2018 at the Wauseon VFW Post #7424 with Pastor Lance Wyse officiating.
