Mary Elizabeth Kurth, 89, of Upatoi, GA passed away Friday, April 20, 2018, at her home. Born April 7, 1929, in Riverside, IL, the daughter of Willis Francis and Sarah Elizabeth (Martin) Biederman. She married Thomas Paul Kurth on February 6, 1954, in La Grange, IL, he survives.

She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1947 and received an Associate’s degree from Rosary College in 1949. In addition to raising her children, Mrs. Kurth worked as a Neurology Technician. She was a lifelong, active member of the Catholic Church and a regular volunteer with the Outreach Program in Columbus, Ga.

She enjoyed reading, feeding the hummingbirds and was an exceptional cook. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and felt blessed to finally watch her team win a World Series Championship. Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was a devoted wife, married to her husband for 64 years, 2 months, and 14 days. A loving mother to eight and a cherished grandmother, who was so affectionately referred to as Nannie. Also surviving are seven children, Thomas (Dorlana) Kurth of Applegate, OR, Anne (James) Tuck of Merritt Island, FL, Edward (Camille) Kurth of Princeton, John (Anita) Kurth of Princeton, Loretta (John) Wawak of Willowbrook, Richard (Linda) Kurth of Walnut, and Jeffery Silberstorf of Lockport; one brother, Edward Biederman of Mesa, AZ; nineteen grandchildren, John Thomas, Lisa, Loretta, Mary, Christopher, Bruce Jr., Billy, Dustin, Russell, David, Michelle, Adam, Kimberly, Andrea, Matthew, Elizabeth, Carolyn, Spencer, and Sarah; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, one son, Bruce Paul Kurth and brothers, James and John Biederman. A Catholic funeral mass was held in her honor at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Columbus, GA this past week. A burial service was held on Saturday, April 28th at 1:30PM at Fullersburg Cemetery in Hinsdale.
