MARY LEE HUGHEY Mary Lee Hughey, 83, died May 17 , 2018, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Hilliard, Ohio, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Leo V. and Irene B. Keating Taylor, and her husband of 63 years, Robert A. Hughey. She is survived by her five children: Mary Pat (John) Lambert, Robert T. (Barb) Hughey, Suzanne Hughey Koerner, Janet I. (Robert) Tompkins, and James (Patricia) Hughey; her 11 grandchildren: Megan (Kyle) Weichman, Taylor Hughey, Benton (Robyn) Koerner, Michael (Sarah) Koerner, Emily Koerner (Ben) Quigley, Thomas Koerner, Bridget and Rachael Tompkins, Sarah, Patrick (Julie) and Bryan Hughey; and six great-grandchildren: Jude, Case and Samuel Koerner, Carleigh Koerner, Charles Koerner, and George Hughey; her brother, Richard J. (Roberta) Taylor and her sister-in-law, Nancy Hughey Gomola.

Born Mary Lee Taylor in Oil City, PA, she graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1952. She married Robert A. (Bob) Hughey in St. Joseph’s Church on June 5, 1954. She worked as the School Secretary for St. Joseph’s Grade School during the 1970s.

After she and Bob moved to Stow, Ohio, in 1978, she began working at Victoreen (later acquired by Cardinal Health) as a receptionist and retired 25 years later as a marketing assistant. She served as a Eucharist Minister for Holy Family Parish of Stow, Ohio. Following her retirement from Victoreen, Mary Lee volunteered at Akron Children’s Hospital for 10 years, and enjoyed spending time on the family’s pontoon boat.

Viewing will be held at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, Ohio, on Saturday May 19 from 3-6 P.M. Viewing will also be held at Reinsel Funeral Home in Oil City, PA, on Sunday May 20 from 6-8 P.M. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Oil City, PA, on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. John Miller, Pastor, Presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Oil City, PA.
