Sequim resident Mary Louise Brockob passed away on October 14, 2018, from pneumonia at age 94. She was born September 25, 1924, in New York City, to Dr. Frederick J. Labruier and Marjory (Kenny) Labruier. She attended Mount Saint Vincent College and Columbia University.

She married Lt. Robert M. Murphy, in 1946, and they settled in La Mesa, California, when he was discharged from the Navy. They had three children, Michael, Maryann and Kathryn.

Bob died in 1952 and Mary was remarried to Donald J. Brockob, also in the Navy, in 1955, and moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1959. Mary returned to college at the University of Denver and Colorado State University and received her teaching certificate. She taught at Christ the King Parochial School and later passed the exam to become a realtor.

In 1974, Don and Mary moved to Sequim and Mary continued her real estate career as an associate broker for 25 years before retiring in 1998. Don passed away in 2002 and her daughter Maryann Ballard moved to Sequim, in 2004, to be with her. Michael, her eldest, died in 2009.

Her other daughter, Kathryn, is a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Mom was a very elegant woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to read and volunteered at the Hospital Guild for many years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughters, Maryann (Russ) Ballard of Sequim, and Dr. Kathryn Murphy-Judy of Richmond, Virginia; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Murphy of Huntsville, Alabama; grandsons, Robert Murphy of Huntsville, Alabama, Ashnfara (Lanaina) Murphy Judy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and adopted grandson, Victor Murphy of Huntsville, Alabama; granddaughters, Alejandra Murphy Judy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Megan (Michael) Powell of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and two great-grandchildren. Cremation was arranged through Sequim Valley Chapel by the Olympic Cremation Association at Mount Angeles Crematory.
