She was a native of St. Cloud Minnesota and a resident of Vallejo for over 75 years. Mary was the daughter of J.W. (Bill) and Estelle C. Kopple.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Michael, children Moira Lindquist RN and Sheila Williams (Tony). Mary had three grandchildren, Sarah and Anthony Williams and Keeghan Lindquist. She also leaves behind her brother JW (Bill) Kopple Jr.(Mallory) and her sister Lois M. Pavelka .

Sisters-in-Law Mary Jean Lynch O’Donnell , Constance Lynch, and Brother-in-Law Daniel Lynch (Joyce) and numerous nephews and nieces. Mary attended St. Vincent Elementary and High Schools. Upon graduation (1959) she became a bookkeeper at the old Crocker Anglo Bank.

She saw that computers were the future and retrained as a data input machine operator and held jobs in San Francisco and finally in San Jose. While attending High School she met her future husband Michael and they married in 1962. Tired of following Michael around, she took up golf at a late age and joined the “Women’s Nine Hole Golf Association” Green Valley Country Club group Traveling League.

She played in tournaments around the Bay Area. Mary made a hole in one in 1989 and was notified later that it was the longest hole in one in CA by a WNHGA member for that year. More importantly this feat was accomplished with Michael in the group.

Mary was an avid bridge player. She was a member of several weekly groups and played year round. She also was a member of the Lilac Branch of the Oakland Children’s Hospital Auxiliary where she made many lifelong friends while raising funds for research and care of children.

She also enjoyed walking with friends and later with her dog Molly on the waterfront. Mary was accomplished at knitting, loved reading and period piece movies. Mary was an amazing mother, daughter and sister.

She spoke to her daughters daily, had many traditions for the holidays and made sure everyone’s birthday included a favorite dinner with family. She loved to laugh especially at Michael’s stories. Mary was even able to pull off a prank or two on Michael and the girls.

Mary and her sister and brother were very close and took wonderful care of their parents. The favorite club Mary gained membership to in 1993 was the grandparent club. She attended plays, dance recitals, and many athletic events.

She always believed her three grandkids were the best and could accomplish anything. Her love for them was very evident and they have many, many wonderful “Nana memories”. Mary led a productive and inspiring life and her passing will leave a large void in the lives of her family and friends.
