Mary’s Journey On October 17, 1972 in Houston, Harris County, Texas, Mary Nell Peavy was born the third child of three to Gerald Clement Peavy and Ellen Earline (Peavy) Howard. Mary accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Greater True Vine Baptist Church in Houston, TX, under the leadership of Pastor Richard D. Douglas. During her adult years, she joined South Union Baptist Church in Houston, TX (Pastor Michael V. Smith), Missionary Camp Baptist Church, Navasota, TX (Pastor James W. Mable, Sr.), St. Martinsville Baptist Church, Navasota, TX (Pastor Raymond C. Lenton, Sr.).

Throughout Mary’s Christian journey, she served faithfully at each church. She served in many ministries such as the choir, praise team, mime ministry, and the usher board. Mary attended Nimitz High School in Houston, TX.

She later pursued a career in cosmetology at Texas Barber College and Hairstyling Schools in Houston, TX. Her employment experiences included First Student Bus Company in Navasota, TX and Houston, TX and GoldStar Transit in Navasota, TX. She was affiliated with several groups and organizations: Inspiration (Gospel Recording Artists), M.O.P. (Mime on Purpose) Navasota,TX, 3 Bar Riding Club, Down South Divas aka Juicy, G.L.O.W.

(Gorgeous Ladies on Wheels). Mary Nell met and married Jerry Wayne Jones on July 13, 1996. She later married Kenneth Pleasant on August 4, 2012.

God called Mary home on May 10, 2019. She was preceded in death by her nephew Thomas Charles Williams II; grandparents: Mary Ellen Peavy, Goree Peavy, Anna Mae Dickson, Jasper Dickson; aunts, and uncles. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Kenneth Pleasant; her mother, Earline Howard; her father, Gerald (Kay) Peavy; her siblings, Geraldine (Thomas) Williams, Jeanette (Walter) Williams, Angela (Donovan) Newman, Deandra Peavy, and Christopher (Andrea) Howard; blended siblings Tamaria (Sceffers) Ward, Martine Mack, Marlana Mack; god siblings Tangerica Alexander, Shaneka Paley, Tasheba Peavy, Leticia Smith, Lakesha Clark, Sondra Manuel, Shandra Helaire and Delvin Peavy; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
