OBITUARY Mary Rose Ferrara June 23, 1936 – January 28, 2019 Mary Rose Ferrara age 82- wife of Rocco Ferrara since 1960 of New Britain passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Mary Rose was born June 23, 1936 in New Britain CT to the late Metus and Grace (Geetersloh) Rivers previously residing in Plainville before settling in New Britain, CT. Mary Rose graduated from New Britain General Hospital school of Nursing and received her B.S.N. from Central CT State College.

Mary Rose was employed as a school nurse for New Britain schools before retiring in 1996. She was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi in New Britain. Mary Rose enjoyed reuniting with her friend Nancy and her other fellow nursing friends.

She also enjoyed visiting the local area Catholic shrines with the love of her life, her husband Rocco (Ric). Besides her husband, Rocco, she is survived and will be dearly missed by son Andrew and his wife Sandra of New Britain, her daughter Catherine, and her husband Keith (Gooley) of Canterbury. She is also survived by her dear sister Ellen Stagis of Bradenton, FL and grandchildren Keith Gooley, Andrew Ferrara Jr., Pascale Ferrara and Elizabeth Capodagli.

She was predeased by sisters Grace Francis, Mae (Rivers) McMurray, Frances (Rivers) Coppi, Margaret (Rivers) Provencher, Shirley (Rivers) Caya and her brothers, Thomas, Richard, James and Metus Rivers Jr. Funeral services will be held Friday at 8:30am at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian at 9:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. Committal will follow in St Mary Cemetery, New Britain.

Visitation will be on Thursday Jan 31st from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorial donations in her memory may also be made to Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 3152 Little Rd. , Suite 146, Trinity, FL 34655.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the kind and caring staff at Apple Healthcare of Plainville for their compassionate care.
