Obituary for Mary Ruth Sproles DANTE, VIRGINIA – Mary Ruth Sproles, 77, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia. She was born in Dante, Virginia; daughter of the late Thermon and Mary Casteel Sproles. She was preceded in death by one sister, Christina Faye Ervin.
She was a Charter Member of Mills Chapel Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir leader and youth leader. She also enjoyed crafting. She is survived by one sister, Shirley Ann Sproles of Dante, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Fred Ervin of Dante, Virginia; one nephew, Shane Ervin and wife, Devin of Aiken, South Carolina;four great nephews and niece, Hunter Ervin and wife, Katie of Crestview, Florida, Tayler Ervin and wife, Kaylin of Castlewood, Virginia; Madison Ervin of Elgin, South Carolina and Ronald Greathouse of Lugoff, South Carolina; and several cousins.
Funeral Services for Mary Ruth Sproles will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Mike Patrick and Rev. Darrell Milgrim officiating.
Committal Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Tayler Ervin, Tyler Patrick, Craig McMillan, Tim Sproles, Allen Hicks and Steve Austin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Wallace and Jim Williams. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia.
