Virginia “Gin” Johnson (Zumwalt) Shuler, also known to her loved ones as “Nanny,” was born February 2, 1926 to Ed and Goldie Johnson. She was 92 years old (just 13 days shy of 93) when she passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 with loved ones by her side. She went to beauty school in Shawnee, then went to work as a hairstylist at Marie Villines Salon in Seminole, OK.

She then spent many years as a Hostess with the Mostest and manager at Sleepy Hollow Steakhouse and Skyline Restaurant. Her hobbies included bowling, softball, fishing, dancing, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Strickland and husband Larry of Midwest City, OK; son, Wendell Zumwalt and wife JoAnn of Houston, TX; stepsons, Gene Upton Shuler and Wes Shuler; 9 grandchildren, Sherri Salley, Nealon Adams, Kim Wells-Koenig, Donna Stammer, Kellie Dunn, Anthony Florow, Dani Shuler, Erik Shuler, and Amanda Shuler; 12 great-grandchildren, Jeff Lee, Cory Wells, Jessica Tomolonis, Ryan Adams, Steven Citty, Shae Wall, Lynsey Huddleston, Kaeli Dunn, Alexis Dunn, Blaine Florow, Hunter Florow, and Riley Koenig; 7 great-great grandchildren, Bryce Pittman, Brayden Pittman, Brooklynn Pittman, Kiera Huddleston, Aurora Wall, Kanen Huddleston, and Emerson Adams; her 2 sisters, Vada Knoll of Oregon and Imogene “Beanie” Hobbs of Arizona; along with many family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband of 20 years, Delbert Zumwalt; her husband of 30 years, Burton Eugene “Gene” Shuler; her grandson, Larry Adams; her parents, Ed and Goldie Johnson; her 7 siblings Dick Johnson, Lucille “Bookie” Long, Ray “Buzzy” Johnson, Piney Ravie Thomas, Frank Johnson, Clarence “Popeye” Johnson, and Geraldine “Squeak” Carnes; and her pet dog, Jitterbug. Viewings will be held at Ford Funeral Service located at 305 S. Sooner Rd Midwest City, OK 73110 on Wednesday January 23, 2019 from 12-8pm and Thursday January 24, 2019 from 9am – 8pm.

Family will be present from 4-8pm on Wednesday. Services to celebrate her life will be on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10 AM at The Chapel at Little Cemetery 11522 OK-99, Seminole, OK 74868. Bill Chesser will be officiating her service.

Serving as pallbearers are Phyllis Strickland, Nealon Adams, Anthony Florow, Cory Wells, Ryan Adams, and Riley Koenig. Honorary pallbearers are David Dunn, Zach Northrip, Terry Northrip, John Northrip, Eddie Carnes, David Johnson, Jake Johnson, and Bub Johnson.
