Mary Baur Zielke of Bolivar passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 At the age of 92. She was born in Thayer, Mo. on December 17, 1926, to Ethel and Sam Watson who preceded her in death.
Mary came from a loving family, having several sisters and brothers. Brothers Orin and Sam, along with sisters Alyne, Jean, Martha, and Louise, preceded her in death. Her sister Dot and her husband reside in Springfield, Mo.
and she has a brother John and his wife residing in West Plains, Mo. On May 30, 1947 she married Robert Baur in St. Louis, Mo. To this union two children were born, Cindy and Robert.
Robert proceeded her in death on February 20, 1984. On May 2, 1999 she married Clarence Zielke who passed away on March 3,2012. Mary was a strong supporter of the US military having volunteered at the McChord USO for several years.
Her brother Orin lost his life in Korea during the Korean War. Husband Robert served in the US Navy, Pacific Theater during WWII. Clarence also served during WWII in the Army Air Corp in the Chinese-Burma Theater and later during the Korean War in the US Air Force.
Her daughter Cindy retired from the Air Force and Mary truly enjoyed her visits to the bases she served at. She would sit for hours watching aircraft come and go and participated in several military events with her daughter. Mary loved spending time with her family, church, dining out, traveling, flowers, sitting on the porch and bingo.
Mary made many friends whom she called her family after moving back to Bolivar to live with Cindy and her husband, Ron. She was a member of the Bolivar Zion Lutheran Church and really enjoyed visits from Pastor Tom Rhodes and other members while she resided at Parkview Health Care. She leaves behind her sister and brother, daughter Cindy (Ron) Whitchurch and son Robert (Connie) Baur of St. Charles, MO, many grandchildren and great grandchildren nieces and nephews, extended “family members” Annie and Jesse Strack, also a host of friends she made throughout her life.
She will be greatly missed by all. She will be interred with her husband Robert in Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, Fl. In lieu of Flowers donations can be made to Parkview Health Care Center Activities Department, to assist other residents with activities during their stay at this wonderful facility, or Zion Lutheran Church.
Mary truly enjoyed all the staff members and fellow residents who made her journey easier and she would love to assist in providing future activities for those residents to enjoy. “My friends don’t be sad but be glad that I am with Jesus. God bless you all and we shall meet again”.
Visitation for Mary will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Butler Funeral Home, with Services to follow at 11:00.
