Maryan Addie (Lundy) Chambers passed away on Thursday, November 22 in Newport, Oregon. She was 89. Her final days were spent surrounded by loved ones.

Maryan, known as “Mimi” to friends and family, was born September 3, 1929 to parents Robert Lundy lll and Marion (Budge) Lundy at her Grandmother Nan Budge’s ranch in Grovont, Wyoming. She was raised in Jackson, WY, where she forged her signature toughness, and graduated from Jackson High School with the class of 1948. She married Archie S. Chambers on November 3, 1948 and started a family in Wilson, WY.

In 1961, Maryan moved her family to Newport, Oregon, and settled in Nye Beach, where she enjoyed a sweeping view of the ocean. In Newport, Maryan provided in-home childcare for many local families, and later for her grandchildren. In 1990, Maryan purchased a home on a large lot in Toledo to enjoy warmer evenings and pursue her love of gardening and bird watching.

Maryan’s driving passion was her family. Her greatest love was hosting large family celebrations, with a particular affection for Fourth-of July barbeques and huge family Christmas gatherings, the latter filling her home from wall-to-wall with decorations and showering her family with gifts. In later years, Maryan celebrated the arrival of great-grandchildren, of which she had nine.

With equal affection for Pacific Northwest beaches and the Mountain West, Maryan made frequent trips back to Wyoming to vacation and visit family. In addition to travel, she loved spending time with her family, canning, gardening, celebrating holidays, bird-watching, collectables, sewing gifts for loved-ones, and shopping, where she took particular joy in finding a good bargain. Maryan was preceded in death by parents Robert and Marion Lundy, husband Arachie S. Chambers, Sister Sharon Heth-Blair, and Son Larry S. Chambers.

She is survived by her brother Barney Craig (Lynn); children Marilyn Chambers, Jim Chambers (Kay), Carol Bernardi (Dave), Debby Chambers Clark; grandchildren Andria Douglas (Bo), Nicole and Ryan Bernardi, Eric Chambers (Corrie), Ty Clark, Taya Keesee (Matt), and Carly Clark; great-grandchildren Ashtyn, Hailey, Cartyr and Reeyce Clark, Jude and Ellie Douglas, James and Jane Chambers, and Hudson Keesee; nieces Lori Skiles (Marc), Michelle Heth, and Garrit Craig, and newphews Mike Heth (Cathy) and Farley Craig (Anne). Maryan’s passing was within a day of her husband’s death 57 years prior. A memorial service in her honor will be held December 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Olalla Valley Golf Course.

All are welcome to attend.
