Matthew’s Obituary Matthew C. Maurizi (Matt), 61, of Levittown, Pa. , was peacefully called to eternal rest on January 23, 2019 at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with his wife, Margaret by his side, and surrounded by his loving family. Matt was born in Bristol, Pa.
, and grew up in Croydon. He graduated from Marist Prep High School in 1975. He furthered his education at St Francis School of Radiology in Trenton, NJ.
Matt was employed at St. Mary Medical Center for the last 35 years where he started out in the dark room and worked his way up to manager of the Radiology Department. He loved music, riding his Harley Davidson, and traveling with his wife Margaret. He was a “Jack of all Trades” and loved to build and fix things.
He is often referred to as “MacGyver” by his friends and family, to whom he was always willing to lend a helping hand; no project too large or small. More than anything, Matt valued his wife, children, grandchildren and family. Although Matt struggled with many rare health issues since birth, his positive attitude always helped him to overcome and conquer his challenges and live a full and happy life.
Son of the late Mario J. and Nelia (Ridolfi) Maurizi of Philadelphia and brother of the late John Maurizi. Matt is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Maguire) of 36 years. He is the beloved father and father-in-law of Megan and James Abriola and Jacob “Jake” and Noelle Maurizi.
The cherished “Pop-Pop” of Alexis, Jackson, Nelia, Maci, Mia, and 2 more on the way. He will be sadly missed by his siblings Mario (Mary), Thomas (Lori), Marguerite, Timothy, David (Peggy), and Mark (Cathy), his Uncle Donald (Elaine) Ridolfi, his many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. The Maurizi Family would like to thank the donor families, the transplant team at John Hopkins University Hospital, and medical staff at The University of Pennsylvania Hospital for the many precious years given to Matt.
A special thanks to Matt and Margaret’s St. Mary Medical Center family for their kindness and support; especially his kidney brother Jim, friend and colleague, for the gift of life.
