Matthew Forbes May , August 30, 1980 — November 27, 2018

On Tuesday, November 27, 2018, Matthew Forbes May, loving son, husband, father, brother, and friend to all, passed away at the age of 38. The eldest of three boys, Matthew was born on August 30, 1980 in Indianapolis, IN to Ronald Lee May and Joan Birkenstock May. Soon after he graduated high school, the May family relocated to the Eastern Shore.

Matthew adjusted well to Shore life, making friends immediately and meeting the love of his life, Paige Lorraine Smith. On October 7, 2016, Matthew and Paige began their journey as husband and wife and continued to support one another in pursuit of their dreams. This past July, Matthew became the proud owner and operator of Full Measure Oyster Farm, he and Paige welcomed the birth of their son, Tilghman Lee May, on August 3, 2018, and most recently, they moved into a new home.

Matthew loved being on the water, for both work and fun, and he never missed the opportunity to play a game of softball. He had a great passion for all animals, and you’d rarely find he and Paige without one or more in tow. He will be greatly missed by his beloved fur babies, Isabelle and Roscoe, but he is undoubtedly enjoying the many kisses from his best buds, Willis and Enos, who predeceased him.

To know Matthew May was to love him and those that had the great pleasure to be his friend, knew they could always count on him. Matthew is survived by his wife, Paige, and their pride and joy, Tilghman; his parents, Ron and Joan; his brothers and best friends, Andrew and Jonathan and his fiancé Lauren Jellison; parents-in-law, Rodney and Kim Smith; brother-in-law, Devin Smith and wife Reba; numerous aunts and uncles, and their families; and countless friends. A memorial service to honor Matthew’s life will be held at Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Monica Gould officiating.
