Matthew Paul Spanbauer, 84, of Green Valley, AZ, formerly of Pocatello, ID, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Villas of Green Valley. Matt was born March 23, 1934 in Shelley, ID, to Frank Spanbauer and Gertrude VandeBergh Spanbauer. Matt attended St. Margaret’s parochial school, graduated from Blackfoot High School and attended Idaho State College.

Matt worked for Modern Motor Company and in 1957 he went to work at the INL. He started in the labor pool and retired as Mechanical Maintenance Manager after 40 years, retiring in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Green Valley, AZ; his children: Teresa (David) Buttelman, of Green Valley, AZ, Blair (Janet) Spanbauer of Pocatello, ID, Richard Spanbauer of Blackfoot, ID, and Alan Spanbauer of Washington, DC; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and two brothers. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Community (St. Anthony) 524 North 7th Ave, Pocatello, ID. Followed by interment at the Grove City Cemetery, Blackfoot, ID.
