Maurice’s Obituary Maurice B. “Hoot” Gipson, 100, of Johnson City passed away on March 9, 2019, at LBJ Medical Center in Johnson City. Hoot was born on February 17, 1919, in Johnson City, Texas to Ruth Wolf Gipson and George R. Gipson. He was a self-employed Rancher and was a World War II Army Veteran serving in the Quartermaster Corps.

Hoot loved to hunt and fish; collect arrow heads; enjoyed getting together to drink coffee and visit with his group; the “Blanco County Old Timers Coffee Club”. He loved his family dearly especially his grandchildren and his dog “Jumper”. Hoot will be missed by all who knew him.

Hoot is survived by his wife, Dardanella White Gipson of Johnson City; son, Pete Gipson and his wife Patsy of Bulverde; grandchildren, Sheri Gipson of New York City, New York and John Gipson of Salt Lake City, Utah. Hoot was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, G.R. Gipson and Roy Gipson; sisters, Vera Ruth Hirsch, Lelia Kent and Opal Ray Gipson. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home located at 305 Elm Street in Johnson City.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery in Johnson City.
