There will be a Graveside Service on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Blackwell Cemetery. Reverend James Martin will be officiating service.

There will be a family visitation on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. Mauricio was born July 17,1929 to parents Francisco and Dominga Chavez. Mauricio moved to Blackwell.

He lived in Blackwell most of his life, where he worked as a ranch hand. Mauricio loved the outdoors, he loved gardening, deer hunting and loved watching his children play sports. Mauricio always had a smile on his face.

His children said “ He was the hardest working man they knew”. Mauricio was the most proud of his children. He loved his Grandchildren to pieces.

Survivors are: Daughter: Jessica Shook and husband Robert of Abilene, Sonia Laramore and husband David of Aquilla,Texas, Crystal Chavez of Blackwell, Sons: Mauricio Chavez Jr and wife Sylina of Blackwell, Jesus Chavez and wife Melanie of Abilene. 12 Grandchildren Mauricio was preceded in death by his Parents.
