Obituary for Mr. Max Alfred Boller Boller, Max A. M.D. 81, passed away Sunday, July 22, from Alzheimer’s Disease. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane Hubly Boller, children Max Andrew (Susana), Matthew (Kathy) and Anne-Marie, sister Judy Starr, brother James Starr, six granddaughters: Danni Boller, Nicole Boller, Emma Boller, Olivia Boller, Gabbie Hudson, Katarina Hudson, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Jonathan, and his parents, Max Boller and Mae Isenhart Boller Starr.

Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Max grew up in Waterloo and Des Moines, Iowa. He attended in Iowa State University in Ames and Drake University in Des Moines before graduating from the University of Iowa Medical School (Iowa City) in 1962. He did an internal medicine internship in Chicago and residency training at the Veterans Hospital in Chicago.

He then completed specialty training in cardiology at the University of Minnesota. Max served as a Captain in the US Army for two years, directing frostbite research in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1968, Max began his medical practice at the Nicollet Clinic in Minneapolis, where he served a term as president.

He was also Chief of Staff at the former Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis. Subsequently, he was a member of the Department of Cardiology at Park Nicollet for 27 years before retiring in 2010. Max was a Deacon at Colonial Church in Edina and previously, a member of the Board of Life and Growth at Mt.

Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. He belonged to Interlachen Country Club. Max and Jane traveled extensively abroad and enjoyed skiing, tennis and golf.

Max’s other interests included gardening, reading (especially history and science), music from Buffet to Beethoven, the Minnesota Vikings, theater productions, soaking up the sunsets on Sani-bel/Captiva and having fun. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at English Rose Suites on Valley View Road in Edina for their care and concern for Max the past two years. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association, 7900 West 78th Street.

Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN 55439 A memorial service will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Colonial Church in Edina. Visitation will be Thursday, 5-7 pm, Washburn- McReavy Funeral Home, 5000 West 50th St., Edina. Private interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery.
