Obituary for Maxine B. Hollingshead (Stephenson) Maxine B. Hollingshead 96 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at The Horizon Senior Living II, Clare, Michigan. Maxine was born August 25, 1922 in Clark Lake, Michigan, the daughter of Elmer and Madeline (Earley) Stevenson. Maxine was valedictorian of her senior class.

After high school, she worked at Superior Duvaren Dairy Farms where she was a secretary. Later Maxine became the business manager of her and her husband’s septic tank manufacturing company in the 1950’s and 60’s, which was then moved to Harrison in 1958 from Jackson, Michigan. Maxine was married to Howard R. Hollingshead on April 26, 1946 in Jackson, Michigan.

Mr. Hollingshead preceded Maxine in death on October 19, 2010 after sixty four years of marriage. Maxine loved art and became very creative with her paints. Her depiction of black bears still remains on the side of their garage at her previous residence in the city of Harrison.

Maxine also loved traveling and visiting many sites in Michigan with her husband Howard. She loved her flowers around her house, especially her snowball bush that was relocated when she moved. Mrs. Hollingshead’s favorite memory growing up was living in the country and playing with the family dogs; Sally and Pal.

She also enjoyed walking to Clark Lake with her two brothers to swim. Her favorite place was anywhere that was outside. Surviving are her two daughters; Sue McCleary of Harrison and Judy Visser also of Harrison, one son, Howard A. Hollingshead and wife Linda of Reese, Michigan, many grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Maxine also was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Barbara Davis, two sons in law; Thomas Lynn McCleary and Gene Visser, two brothers; Gordon Stephenson and Darold Stephenson. Funeral services honoring Mrs. Hollingshead will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 11:00 a.m until time of service.
