Laura “Maxine” Schlosser, 83, passed away on Sat. , January 5, 2019. Her funeral will be held at the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church in Conrad on Fri.

, January 11 at 10 a.m. Maxine was born Oct. 1, 1936 in Brady. She worked as a nurse’s aide and assistant in the Radiology Department at the Pondera Medical Center for many years.

Later she enjoyed working as a sales clerk at the Robbins Department Store. The job she most enjoyed, though, was raising the three children she had with her husband, Frank, the love of her life. Their wedding was on Nov.

20, 1955 and they were married 54 years. Maxine most loved the outdoors. She and Frank always had a very bountiful garden.

Maxine was able to can many of the vegetables they grew and she loved to share with others. She also loved camping and fishing. Whether or not the weather was nice, they were gone on the weekends to one of Montana’s beautiful lakes.

Often times they had a least one or two of their grandchildren in tow. These fishing trips led to the famous family fish fries at Grandma’s house. Great food, fun and lots of reminiscing always took place.

Maxine’s grandchildren meant everything to her. You could count on seeing her at her grandchildren’s sporting and school events. She especially loved the state wrestling tournaments in Billings.

Cards were also dear to her and she was a sharp card player. For years she enjoyed playing in a pinochle group with several ladies whom she truly enjoyed. Maxine was a very giving person and never a complainer.

An avid supporter of the Women’s Moose, she was always one of the first to volunteer when needed. Bingo at Pondera Medical center was another event Maxine loved. She called out the numbers to the seniors and loved to hear them call “bingo!

” As a long-time member of the Red Hat Society, Maxine looked forward to the road trips. Survivors include sons Roger (Annie) Schlosser and Jim Schlosser, both of Conrad; a daughter, Susan (Will) Wood of Gillette, Wyo. ; six grandsons and three granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren, a brother, Leonard Armstrong; and two sisters, Pat Giard and Marcella Rodriguez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Noble and Florence Armstrong; her brothers Darwin and Walter Armstrong and her daughter-in-law, Gayle Schlosser.
