OBITUARY Melissa Ruttle Taylor December 11, 1952 – January 14, 2019 Melissa was born on December 11, 1952, to Gilbert Lawrence Ruttle and Mildred Hayles Ruttle in Shreveport, Louisiana. She passed away unexpectedly January 14, 2019, in Matthews, North Carolina. Melissa was a loving mother and grandmother.

She had a contagious smile and laugh, and enjoyed travelling with her family. She was an avid cook and quilter, and for the past 15 years she worked as a medical biller and coder for Polyclinic Medical Center. She was known to her grandchildren as Granny or as Mama “G” Dance mom, as she proudly spent the last 7 years with her granddaughter Brooke supporting her love for dancing at Barbara Morgan’s Rhythm Dance studio in Matthews, N.C.

She looked forward to spending time with family and friends, and relished in spoiling her beloved furbabies and grand furbabies. Preceding Melissa in death are her beloved parents and nephew Michael Jonathan Ruttle. Surviving her are her five daughters and eight grandchildren: Margaret, and husband John White and their children Mary, Laura, Tony and Joe of Garland, TX, Hilliary and husband Jason Paquette and their children Alex, Shawn and Brooke of Matthews, NC, Gayle Taylor and husband Pete Grueninger of Albuquerque, NM, Marci and husband Anthony Roosen and son Gabriel of Monroe, NC, and Chelsey Taylor and her partner Ethan Joyce of Charlotte, NC; as well as 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 9 nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass honoring the life of Melissa Ruttle Taylor will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 18th, at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28277, with Father Patrick Hoare officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at 12:30 p.m. before the mass begins.
