OBITUARY Mellie Killian September 30, 1938 – November 6, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Melva Elda “Mellie” Killian, age 80, of Jersey Village, Texas, entered Heaven’s gates on November 6, 2018. She was born on September 30, 1938 to Melville Arlon Eklund and Vivian Elda Eklund in Seguin, Texas. She became involved with farming and raising her family in the Roosevelt community and worked as a LVN for a local orthopedic surgeon in Lubbock, Texas until moving into the city in 1976.
She then moved to Houston in 1979 where she worked as a Family Service Counselor for Forest Park Westheimer. She had various other sales positions upon her retirement. Her passion was spending time with her family, cooking, bass fishing, traveling and sales.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, W.D. Killian and brother Arlon Eklund. Left to cherish her memories are her four children, Wesley Killian and fiancé Teresa Paup of Edmond, Oklahoma, Rhonda Schulz and husband Charley, of Lubbock, Texas, Melanie Killian of Jersey Village, Texas, Mark Killian and wife Susan of Jersey Village, Texas; nine grandchildren, Weston Killian and wife Michelle, Wade Killian, Zachary Schulz, Angela Watson and husband Brad, Molly Killian, Mellie Klair Yetter, Blake Killian, Christopher Killian and Kyle Killian; nine great grandchildren, Wyatt Killian, Brad Killian, Riley Killian, Evie Yetter, Lucy Yetter, Luke Watson, Madison Killian, Henry Watkins and Owen Watson. One sister, Betty Hodges and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her devoted caregiver, Jennifer Alexander, for all of the love and support she provided. A celebration of life will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at Brookside Funeral Home – Cypress Creek in Houston, Texas at 2:30. Prior to the celebration, a visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:30.
