Melville G. Reed passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 with his loving daughter Mid by his side. He was born on November 26, 1924 in Allegheny Township to the late Robert M. Reed and Clara (Rupert) Reed. He resided in Allegheny Township all his life where he drove bus for 21 years and was a craneman for 21 years.

He met his loving wife, Yvonne D. (Shuster) Reed in second grade and married her on October 20, 1945. He loved and took care of her for 50 years through her battle with MS until she passed away in 1995. He served with Co. C 157th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II.

He was a proud veteran who was in the Battle of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. He was a Gold card member of the Allegheny Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept.

#1. He loved to garden vegetables and share them with family and friends. He was a member at the East Vandergrift Senior Citizens’ Center where he made a lot of good friends.

They were like family to him. He is survived by his daughter, Mid G. Reed (Maureen O’Connell) of Allegheny Twp. ; sons, Mark Gary Reed of Freeport and Robert Reed (Dawn) of Allegheny Twp.

; daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Harnish of New Kensington; grandchildren: Mark Gary Reed Jr., Melanie Shindledecker (Dwayne), Justin Reed (Keisha), Jeramie Reed (Amanda) and Alexis Reed; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Melville Grant Reed Jr. in 2018; sister, Martha Reed Wade; stepmother, Pauline Reed; and a stepsister, Betty Kepple. Friends welcomed by his family on Sunday, Dec.

9, 2018 from 1-5 PM at Clawson Funeral & Cremation Center, 170 Main Street, Leechburg (724-842-1051) where funeral ceremonies will be held at 1 PM on Monday, Dec. 10, with the Rev. James V. Arter III officiating.

Interment following at Brookland Cemetery, 2432 White Cloud Rd. , Allegheny Twp. with military honors conducted by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
