Melvin A. Morris, age 82, of Woodlawn went to be with his Lord on Monday, February 18, 2019. He was born August 19, 1936 in Amelia, Texas to the late James and Fannie Morris. His family moved to Arkansas in 1949 from Arch, New Mexico, he graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1954, and worked for Prewitt Paper Company and Fox Brothers Hardware Company.

He was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Thelma Lee Rushing Morris and one brother, Otis M. Morris and three sisters, Mary Holloway, Virginia Wiggins and Jewel McAda. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Gail Morris Winningham (Mike); his son, Terry Lee Morris (Debi); one grandson, Jason Terry Morris and one great granddaughter, Anna Lee Morris.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church near Rison with Brother Jackie Richardson and Brother Carlin Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Morris family will receive friends at the home of Terry Morris, 610 Friendship Road, Rison, Arkansas 71665.
