OBITUARY Michael Clarence Malloy June 9, 1927 – November 26, 2018 Michael Clarence Malloy born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on June 9th, 1927, died November 26th, 2018 in Sugar Land, Texas. Affectionately known as Papa, he began his life in the coal producing region of Pennsylvania and at the early age of 14 began hauling coal in dump trucks as part of the family business. Volunteering at the age of 18 to join the Army he entered the 82nd Airborne and shipped overseas to Germany where he eventually joined the 1264th Engineering Battalion, mustering out on March 9, 1947.
Returning to Florida he engaged a career as a transport engineer running from Florida to the Midwest and ultimately into the Southwest where he made his base of operations in Houston working for McCurdy Trucking Co. As an enterprising young man he began a career in the oil field industry with Marshall J. Brown Company, spent time working in a variety of other companies including Grove, M&J Valve, and MidContinent, ultimately taking over the leadership of Marshall J. Brown Co. where he had begun his oil field industry career. He retired in 2001. Besides his career he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He was an avid captain of his many boats and a community leader. He and his family traveled the roads of Texas pulling a flotilla of boats to Hill Country lakes where he expertly cruised and pulled skiers. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael, mother, Florence, sister, Elinor and brother, Charles (Chickie).
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Leah Rae Malloy and his children and their spouses and children: Dr. Mike and Carol Malloy and grandchild, Elizabeth; Tim and Laura Malloy and grandchildren Chris, and wife Sara, Clinton and Brittany, Allison, and husband Josh and great grandchildren Adeline and Collins; Pat and Leslie Malloy and grandchildren Scott, and wife Melissa and Stephanie, and husband Will, with great grandchildren Blake and Brayden; and Nancy Malloy with grandchildren Travis and Luke.
