Michael E. McIllece, 72, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9128 in Bettendorf. Mike was born December 3, 1946 in Davenport, the son of Foster E. “Mac” & Margaret F. (Cannon) McIllece.

A graduate of Davenport West High School, he was united in marriage to Dottie J. Leslie on August 24, 1982 in Madison, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2004. Mike was employed with the City of Davenport in several departments, mainly public works.

An avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed anything with an engine. He also enjoyed his apple pie and sweet tea drinks. Those left to honor his memory include his son, Eric McIllece of Davenport; his daughters, Wendy (Marc) Lewis of Davenport, Cathy (Patrick) Gustafson of Clarksville, Tennessee and Debora Miller of Davenport; fourteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Dottie, Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Patrick in 2002; his daughter, Terry Hughes in 2009; and his grandsons, Justin Miller in 1991 and Devin Miller in 2003.
