Michael’s Obituary Michael G. Gartner, 100 of Sterling passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Devonshire Acres. A private graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Michael was born June 3, 1918 in Sterling, CO to Jacob and Elizabeth (Matza) Gartner.

He attended schools in Sterling. Michael married Shirley J. Turner, November 8, 1952 in Sidney, NE. He worked for the City of Sterling Street/Sanitation Department for over 35 years.

He was a longtime member of the Model T Club. Michaels’ passion was working on and restoring old cars. He restored a 1923 Model T and gave the car to his grandson Doug.

It meant the world to Doug and he drives it around in Loveland with great pride. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley and his sisters and brothers. Michael is survived by his son, John Volcic and daughter Karren Slocum both of Sterling; grandson Doug Slocum; great-granddaughters Morgan Slocum of Greeley, CO and Jaycie Slocum of Laramie, WY and great-great grandson Oliver Naranjo of Greeley, CO.
