Michael Joseph Siebert, “Mike”, 62, of Salem, passed away on March 3, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Granite City, Il on November 25, 1956, he was the son of the late Raymond and Cleola (Becherer) Siebert. Mike was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy for a term of six years.

He married his beloved wife, Kimberly Ann Sullivan, on July 12, 1980 in Hawaii. The couple made their home in Salem where they raised their family. Mike was a very active member of the community.

He was a member of the Board of Education for Salem, served as Chairman for a time, and served as a member of the LEARN Board of Directors representing the Salem Board of Education. He was active throughout his life with the Boy Scouts. He was an Eagle Scout and later became the Scout Master of his son’s troop, Troop 123.

Mike retired in 2017, as a Supervisor of Technical Training, after 35 years at Millstone Power Plant. He loved being outdoors, hiking, backpacking, traveling, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered most fondly for his strength of character and for the love and devotion he gave to his family.

He was known for being a kid at heart and a “Jack of all trades”. He will be sadly missed, but always remembered with love, by his devoted wife of 38 years, Kim; his children, Meghann and husband Kevin Ruleman, Amanda and fiancé Scott DiPette, Garrett Siebert, Heather and fiancé Omkaran Menon; two sisters, Marie Firkus, Cathy Tankersley; a grandson, William Ruleman and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Schwaller.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 4 – 7 pm at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd. , Colchester and again on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 am. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 10:30 am.

The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Appalachian Mountain Club www. outdoors.org/honor-memorial-gift or the Boy Scouts of America, donations.
