Michael Lee Oomen, age 70, of Walkerville, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home. Mike was born November 30, 1947 in Harlingen, Texas to Francis and Patricia (Coulier) Oomen. He moved to Walkerville at the age of two.

He married Debra (Flanery) on October 23, 1982. Mike was a dairy farmer before retiring in 2000 and became employed at Valley View Pork until being diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2015. He attended Elbridge Community Church.

He served on the Walkerville Public School Board for twenty years and was a Leavitt Township Trustee for ten years. He always enjoyed farming, hunting and watching sports. Mike is survived by his wife, Debra; his children, Daniel Oomen of Walkerville, Jennifer (Lawrence) Russell of Highland, MI, Naomi Oomen of Walkerville, Ashley (Gerren) Brittian of Clemmons, North Carolina, and Lee (Ashley) Oomen of Walkerville; daughter-in-law, Beth Oomen of Walkerville; his sister, Sally (Bob) Bettys of Walkerville; grandchildren, Victoria, Lindsey, Hannah, Lilian, Anabelle, Hunter, Lexi, Jordan, Macy, Jaxson and Eastyn; great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Marlin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Friday, June 15th, at 1 pm with the memorial service to follow at 2 pm at Elbridge Community Church with Pastor Dennis Hintz officiating. Interment will be in Abson Cemetery at a later date.
