Mike honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 serving in Vietnam. On May 17, 1975, Mike was united in marriage with Judy Cashatt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple was blessed with a son and two daughters whom together they raised on their hobby farm in rural New Ulm.
Mike worked for over 34 years at 3M in New Ulm and in his retirement also worked at Hilltop Lumber and Towns Edge Lumber. Besides his work, there were a variety of hobbies that Mike enjoyed to do in life. As an avid outdoorsman, Mike dearly loved hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and walking and riding the trails in his woods.
Many cherished memories were made on special annual hunting trips to Montana. As a jack of all trades, there was very little Mike didn’t know how to do or fix. He loved spending time working with his hands in his woodshop and tinkering on machinery, and always had a special love for his John Deere tractors.
As a farmer at heart, Mike dearly enjoyed getting to help work the land on the Rosenhammer Farm over the years. He also had a love of classic cars, a favorite being his 1970 Chevy Nova. Many laughs were shared over the years over a good game of Farkle and a beer or two with family and friends.
Mike was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm, the Knights of Columbus, and the New Ulm American Legion. What Mike truly loved most in life was his family and every moment he got to spend with them. Countless memories will forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved Mike.
Blessed be those memories.
