Michael’s Obituary Michael R. Capobianco, 70, of Rapid City, died Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Rapid City Regional Hospice house with his family by his side. He was born on September 1, 1948 in the Bronx, NY to Carmine and Rita (Ryan) Capobianco. Michael grew up in the Bronx and after graduating high school and attending college, he enlisted in the United State Marine Corps in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1974.

He enrolled in the Pels School of Art where he met his future wife, Brigitte Gaslevich. They were married on June 29, 1974 in Ridgewood, NY. Michael began his career as an illustrator for Bantam Books, continually being promoted until retiring as Creative Director in 1999.

As a young man, Mike travelled to Wyoming from Connecticut with a group of friends for a wedding. As they drove through Rapid City, he decided that someday, he would live here. After living their lives in Ridgefield, Ct, Mike moved his family to Rapid City in 2013.

Mike was an avid reader and enjoyed time on the rifle range. He is survived by his wife, Brigitte, his daughter, Erica (fiancée Jake Moreland) Leonard and his grandson, Sean Leonard, all of Rapid City. A gathering of friends will begin at 10:00am on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, immediately followed by funeral services at 11:00am.

Interment with military honors will be at the Mt View Cemetery.
