Obituary for Michael Wayne Twedt Michael Wayne Twedt, 52, of Minneapolis, MN, died on April 16, 2018, after a fall in his home. To quote his good friend Joel Hanson: “Mike’s life has impacted many, many people and now his passing has left us all broken hearted. We are left clinging to memories that will surely bring laughter and a smile each time he crosses our minds.
Mike’s passing has left a huge void for us all. The thing is that whether it was a day, a week, a month, a year, or 10 years since we last saw him, it was never hard to pick up right where you had left off with him”. Mike was born February 18, 1966 in Fargo, ND to Julian and Shirley (Johnson) Twedt.
He grew up in Kindred, ND, where he attended grade school and high school. Mike graduated in 1984 from Kindred High School and received his accounting degree from Concordia College in 1988. In the summer of 1988, Mike moved to California where he worked in the finance division of the Cargill salt division.
He moved to Minneapolis in 1994 where he continued to work for Cargill in their internal audit division. Mike progressed into a financial operations management role with Cargill’s Black River Asset Management, and later into origination with its Trade and Structured Finance business before moving on from the Cargill family of businesses. Mike then worked in international sales for airplane scale manufacturer Intercomp, before joining Keller Property Management as a partner in 2016.
At the time of his death, he was beginning a new venture in industrial real estate. Mike’s love of sports was evident in his participation in high school football, basketball and track and college football; and he carried this passion on in his support of the Minnesota Gophers, Twins, and Vikings. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time at the lakes.
His love of life was evident by the large circle of friends that he retained from high school, college and work. Mike married Lisa Husby in September 2006 and they were together for a couple years. During that time, he found his beloved female companion — his Golden Lab Sasha.
He and Sasha were inseparable for the past 12 years, and he recently had to put her to sleep. Mike is survived by his parents Julian and Shirley Twedt, West Fargo, ND; his sisters Sherrie (Jeff Michels) Peterson, Fargo, ND, and Alana Twedt, Beaverton, OR; his nieces Heather Peterson, Fargo, ND, and Brianna (Stephen Byrne) Peterson, Belfield, ND, and nephew Staff Sergeant Dylan Peterson, Melbourne, FL; his extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins; and his many friends, including his long-time friend and supporter, Lisa Palm, Minneapolis, MN.
