Obituary of Michael Smart Smart, Michael Lee, 62 of EHT passed away peacefully Monday, February 18, 2019 with his loving wife and daughter by his side. Born September 27, 1956 in Pensacola, FL. He graduated from Escambia HS in Florida 1974, he however spent his most memorable school years in San Diego attending Mar Vista HS where he has fond memories of his teenage antics with his best friend Dale, such as skipping school to go surfing at Imperial Beach.

Mike was a true entrepreneur owning Coin Telephone Inc. while residing in Charlotte NC. Upon relocating to NJ Mike worked in Advertising for WZXL radio before beginning a 27-year career as a contractor with the FAA Technical Center. Mike earned the nickname margarita man while co-owner, with his wife, of the south Jersey territories of The Margarita Man LLC from 2003-2007, although the name stuck with him until his passing.

Mike had a taste for all the best. He held a private pilot’s license and built a single engine Long -EZ experimental aircraft. He enjoyed fine woodworking developing a niche for making fireplace mantels and had the ultimate woodworking shop in his home.

He was an early adaptor collecting all the latest tech gadgets. He enjoyed hosting “WBC”(whiskey, bourbon, cigar) nights for the gang and was a talented chef preparing elaborate meals for family and friends. He enjoyed spending evenings on the back deck around the fire table listening to music, smoking a good cigar and top shelf libations.

Mike is survived by his wife of 18 years Krista, daughter Kristin (Joe) Schmidt, sons; Chris (Kathryn) Harrell and Ryan (Cindy) Harrell, sister Tisa (Tim) McKinley, brothers; Richard (Melitta) Evans, and Paul (Jennifer) Evans, father Richard Evans, 5 grandchildren, 10 nieces/nephews. He was predeceased by his father Lester Lee Smart, mother Joan Elaine Evans and grandparents. A visitation will take place on Saturday March 9, 2019 from 1pm-3pm with a service to follow at The Godfrey Funeral Home, 4008 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Twp.

Memorial donations are requested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or American Cancer Society Bridge to Beach Bike-a-thon Atlanticare Starfish Team.
