OBITUARY Michelle Duay Duffert September 11, 1959 – October 2, 2018 Michelle (Shelley) Duay Duffert, 59, Oceanside, California, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018, surrounded by family. She was born September 11, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Hung Van Duffert, daughter, Aimee (Bryan) Parrill, son, Dominic (Makana) Duffert, grandchildren, Holden, Ripley, Ash, and Bishop Parrill, Kale’a Duffert, five siblings, mother-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her best friend and dear Mother, Shirlee Ann Duay Schlenker, loving father-in-law, Steve Duffert, and precious grandson, Kaimana Duffert. Shelley was head-strong, full-of-life, and approached everything with passion, strength, and a positive attitude. She was a proud, hard-working union member who worked at Safeway and Vons Grocery Stores, where she retired in 2012.

Shelley was a serious competitor in everything she did, and especially liked a good game of Rook or any type of game night fun with family or friends. She was known by all as a beautiful soul and beautiful person who was full of energy. She loved her family and friends and was extremely proud of her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Shelley was always smiling and had a joyful, contagious laugh that we will remember always. Rest in peace, Shelley. You will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Courtyard by Marriott in Oceanside, at 11:00 a.m. The family request that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Research Institute be made in her name.
