Mildred’s Obituary Mildred Johnson, 88, of Brooklyn, New York, passed, Thursday, April 18, 2019. Mildred was born to Joseph Davis and Catherine Johnson, January 14,1931, in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in Crown Heights in Brooklyn.

She graduated from Needle Trade High School (Now Fashion Industries H.S.) in 1949. She leaves as her legacy [1] child: Michele Pine. Her child remembers her as a strong Black woman, who was career driven, stubborn, friendly, and loved people.

Though sometimes she could be argumentative. She also enjoyed sewing and reading books. She was preceded in death by Helene Thomas; 2nd cousin, her children Cyril Johnson and Lori Thomas, Arthur Blackman; 2nd Cousin, his children; Charisse Blackman and Keith Blackman.

James Blackman;2nd cousin, his children; Kareem Blackman, Catasha Blackman, Cynthia Blackman, and Sabrina Evans. Mildred started her career with the city, in the New York Police Department as a Keypunch operator. Mildred eventually left NYPD and started her career in the NYC Human Res Administration.

She began her career in the Dept. Of Social Services as a Clerk, then rose to an Eligibility Specialist, then a Caseworker, and promoted to a Supervisor. Eventually was promoted to a (Principle Administrative Associate), with New York City; Human Res Administration.

She supervised a group of supervisors performing administrative work, until she retired in 1996.
