Mildred Virginia “Ginger” (Hagen) Boughton age 84 former longtime Burr Oak resident passed away Tuesday morning December 4, 2018 at the home of her granddaughter in Reading, Michigan. She was born September 15, 1934 in Muldrow, Oklahoma daughter of the late Andrew Fred and Nannie Marie (Tankesley) Koett. Ginger resided many years in Burr Oak and also in Mendon for 16 years.

He died March 2, 2006. Ginger found true happiness in helping others. She had been employed as a nurse’s aid at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis for over 30 years and at the Fairview Nursing Home in Centreville for several years.

She also worked in the kitchen of the Sturgis Hospital for several years. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, fishing, gardening and cooking and loved time spent with her children especially her grandchildren. She is survived by three sons: Michael Hagen of Sturgis, Gary (Phyllis) Hagen of Bronson and Roger (Jeannie) Hagen of Burr Oak; two daughters: Dolores Brown of Walkerville and Lynda Hagen of Sturgis; seven grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; one sister: Fern Burgess of Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one grandson and two half-brothers. Family and friends will be received from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091. The Rev.

Kurt Kuhlmann of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
