Obituary for Millard Hope Wooten Jr. Millard Hope “Hopie” Wooten Jr. was born on June 18, 1947 to Mr. Millard Hope Wooten Sr. and Mrs.Katie Mae Wooten (Humphrey) in Quitman, GA. Mr. Wooten received his formal education in Miami, FL. Immediately following high school he enlisted into the United States Air Force in May 1965.

Mr. Wooten dutifully served his country during the Vietnam War, actively stationed in Takhli RTAB, Thailand where he skillfully executed his assignment as an Aircraft Inertial & Radar Navigation System Technician. Mr. Wooten would later settle down in Atlanta, GA where he retired from Sadie G. Mays Health & Rehabilitation Center in the mid 2000’s. Mr. Wooten was a talented craftsman, poet and a gifted singer.

He had a delightful personality and was adored by all who knew him. He ascribed to the traditions of the Native American belief system, and believed in a holistic approach to life and circumstances. After a long and arduous battle with complications following a series of strokes, on Tuesday July 3, 2018 the Lord called Mr. Wooten home.

He is survived by his daughter Mrs. Arrione Clarke, son Mr. Derek Wooten, sisters Ms.Henrietta Wooten, Mrs. Katie Woods, Ms. Francis Wooten and a host of nieces and a nephews. “Daddy, know that my soul aches at the reality of the silence of your voice- but I understand that you had to leave. For always you will be my song, my melody.
