Millicent Whitney Scott was born on 2/27/1931 in West Monroe Louisiana. Milli was the youngest of nine girls and was raised in south Mississippi, about 80 miles north of New Orleans, just south of the border between Louisiana and Mississippi. Milli was an outstanding student and upon graduation had earned the Valedictorian of the class.

However, the elderly Principal failed to present the four year scholarship to Milli and she went out to California with her older sister, having no idea. Several years later when the gentleman retired, the new principle found the scholarship and notified Milli, who by now had married and had started a family. Milli and her spouse, Scotty, lived all over the United States; Milli born in West Monroe Louisiana, Scotty born in Ohio, Wanda (oldest of 4 children) born in Henderson, Nevada, Charles born in La Jolla, California, Susanne born in Eugene, Oregon, and Teresa born in New Orleans, Louisiana.

They were a very adventurous couple and have been to pretty much every National Park in this country. Milli left us several amazing legacies. One of which is that she and our father were married only to each other for 56 years, faithful and true to one another, raising their children and celebrating joyfully with each of their 11 grandchildren and their 5 great-grandchildren.

Milli was a bookkeeper and had a very successful business in the Cherry Creek area of Denver, where they lived many years. She was an amazing cook, artist and created beautiful quilts. Milli lived in Paonia, alone for the past 12 years and was very independent, reading voraciously and being up to date on all current events, often sharing with her adult children what was going on in the world, just in case we had missed something.

Milli had moved back to Mississippi from Houston when Scotty retired to care for her bedridden mother for 3 years until she passed away. Milli had decided early in her life that she wanted to die at home just like her mother and her spouse. However, she and her family found great solace in the fact that Milli was able to be cared for by the professional and loving staff of the Hope West Hospice Care Center, we are forever grateful to them.
