Obituary for Misty Lynn Schaefer (Hayes) Misty Lynn Schaefer (Hayes), 46, of Prior Lake passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born to Linda Hayes and the late Charlie Hayes on June 21, 1972 in Shakopee, Minnesota. Misty was a longtime resident of Prior Lake and graduated from Prior Lake High School in 1990.

She married the love of her life Chad Schaefer in 2006. Throughout her whole life, Misty took care of all of those around her. She had a courageous spirit and her sparkle was infectious.

When Misty was 11, her father passed away and Misty and her mother formed an unbreakable bond. Misty always said her mom was her best friend. Misty talked to her mother every day and their bond is eternal.

It was clear from a young age that Misty was meant to be a mom. On February 17, 1992, her dream came true and she gave birth to Jayme Lynn. Misty was so proud of Jayme and while neither one of them would like to admit it, Misty and Jayme were two peas in a pod.

The spunk, ambition, and sense of humor they shared will make it easy for Jayme to carry her mother’s spirit wherever she may be. When Misty married Chad, she told everyone how lucky she was to have Tyann as her bonus daughter. Misty and Tyann often joked about how even though they were not related biologically, their personalities were one in the same.

The love Misty had for Tyann only grew when Tyann and Tim allowed Misty to be a “Glamma” to 3 beautiful grandchildren. Misty was the coolest, most caring, attentive “Glamma” any grandbaby could ask for and Misty’s love for life grew exponentially when caring for her grandbabies. Misty and Chad were most happy when they were surrounded with their family in their house in Prior Lake.

She was so proud of her house and beautiful flowers, as entertaining was truly her strong suit. Misty and Chad truly lived life, they loved traveling, riding motorcycles, and being with friends and family. Nearly two years ago, Misty’s mom gave the family the greatest gift by purchasing a cabin in Hillman, Minnesota.

Misty loved being surrounded by family and friends with the beautiful lake view and often raved that there was no better gift her mother could have given then the gift of time together. Misty is survived by her husband Chad; mother Linda; daughter Jayme (T.C.), daughter Tyann (Tim), and 3 grandchildren Wyatt, Weston, and Wren. She was preceded in death by her father Charlie and her grandparents.

Misty’s celebration of life will be at Washburn-McReavy at the Edina Chapel at 5000 W. 50th & Hwy 100, Edina, Minnesota on July 7, 2018. Visitation will be held from 11-1:00 p.m., with a service at 1:00 p.m., followed by food and refreshments. In honor of Misty’s journey, she requested everyone add a pop of pink to their attire.

In memory of Misty, the family requests donations be made in Misty’s name to minneapolismets.org.
