Obituary for Montague Fowler Jr. Montague “Monty or Mike” Fowler, Jr. Age 94, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 at his Slickville area (PA) home. Mr. Fowler was born December 11, 1923 to the late Montague Fowler, Sr. and Henrietta (Seal) in Charleston, SC. On April 1, 1946 he married the love of his life, Dorothy May (Venter) Fowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Fowler; and sisters, Doris (Fowler) Daniels, Audrey Theresa (Fowler), and Carolyn (Fowler) Perkins. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; son, Melvin Fowler and Bonnie (Pollock); his daughter, Marietta (Fowler) Closson; 4 grandchildren, Melanie (Adams) Sam and husband, Doug, Lloyd Closson and wife, Lisa (Payne) of Pleasant Grove, UT, Jenny (Fowler) Mull and husband, Dan, and Heidi Fowler; as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kasey, Jake and Molly Closson and Wade Montague Graff. Monty retired from the Union Railroad in 1984 as a locomotive fireman and engineer.

He proudly served in the Marine Corps from May 1943 till February 1946 (WWII Veteran). He enjoyed both life endeavors. He loved spending time with his family, gardening, hunting, driving his tractor and working outside, reading Civil War history, and he especially loved his cats and all animals.

His wife of close to 72 years was always by his side. A funeral service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell at 10am on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 (Monty’s 95th Birthday), with Pastor Ben of Heritage Hospice officiating.
