Monte’s Obituary Monte J. Nunley, 89 of Sapulpa passed from this life on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Green Tree Assisted Living and Memory Care in Sand Springs. He was surrounded by his loving family. Monte was born on May 15, 1930 in Trousdale, Oklahoma to James Leslie and Elsie Ann Nunley.

He graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1948. He was a real estate broker in the San Francisco Bay Area until moving back to Oklahoma in 1973. He was the owner and operator of Green Country Exterminators until his retirement in 1995.

Monte joined the United States Army in 1951 and served in Korea until 1953. He met and married the love of his life, Sandra Myers-Bettencourt in 1967. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Monte had many interests including fishing, gardening and cooking. He loved to travel and visited over 30 countries over the last 40 years. Spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and neighborhood children gave him great pleasure.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Louvena and Wanda Truscott; brothers, J.L., David, Glen and Roger. He was also preceded in death by son, Marvin “Randy” and granddaughter, Traci Marson. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of the home; brother, Don; sister, Cynthia and husband, Bernie Chaisson of California, daughter, Dianna Horn of Tulsa, son, Steven and Erika Asti of Cleveland, Oklahoma, daughter, Deborah and husband, Steve Toliver of Sapulpa; grandchildren include, April and Jubal Dunkle of Broken Arrow, Angle Bertus of Avalon, California, Amber Butterfield of Glenpool, Susanne Nunley of Las Vegas, Armand and wife, Ashley Amador of Oklahoma City; Ashli Amador of Tulsa, Shawn Miller of Oklahoma City, Monica and husband, Jerry Childress of Jay, Valerie and husband, Brian Hilburn of Sapulpa, Tiffany and husband, Andrew Marshall of Tulsa, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Monte was loved by many other relatives and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.

Inurnment will follow at 2 pm at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main St, Sapulpa, OK.
