OBITUARY Mortimer J. “Mort” Branighan Sr. August 23, 1924 – October 1, 2018 Mortimer J. (Mort) Branighan, Sr., passed away peacefully at 94 years of age on Monday, October 1, 2018. Beloved husband of Marie P. Branighan (deceased) for 68 years. Father of Mortimer J. Branighan, Jr. (Linda), Connie B. Carter (Wes), Barbara B. Macaluso (John), and Thomas P. Branighan, Sr

He is also survived by his grandchildren; Michelle B. Vining (Jerome), Michael R. Branighan (Michelle), Angy C. Graham (Robert), Michael J. Carter (Christina), Ryan J. Carter (Brandy), Steven D. Carter, Kristin Macaluso (Andy), Thomas P. Branighan, Jr., and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Branighan Sr., and Mary G. Branighan Ball; siblings Thomas J. Branighan, Jr., Rita Branighan Tabony, Frank E. Branighan, Shirley Branighan Lewis, and Patrick Branighan, Sr He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran having honorably served during WWII.

Mort was the retired Business Manager of Lathers Union #62, and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. , Metairie, LA, Friday, October 5, 2018, beginning at 10 AM, Mass to be held in the chapel at 11 AM.

Burial to follow Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Services Trust cst. dav.org.
