Obituary for MORTIMORE “MORTY” EUGENE GOSSETT Mortimore Eugene Gossett (Morty), age 92 0f Adger passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday December 15, 2018. He was born on December 10, 1926. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17, and proudly served as a Seaman from 1943 until 1945.

On May 5, 1951, he married the love of his life and best friend, Nan and they enjoyed 67 wonderful years together. He worked as a Millwright at McAbee Construction until he retired in 1988. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, 2 brothers, grandson D’Wayne Parsons, and great grandson Slade Boler.

He is survived by his wife Nan Gossett, three beautiful daughters; Ann Parsons (Wayne), Judy Hickey (Joel), Sherry Crider (Ronnie), 6 grandchildren; Rebecca Hope (Jamie), Trudy Parsons, Laura Boler (Jonathan), JC Crider (Kim), Jonathan Hickey (Amber), Justin Hickey, 7 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 18, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at New Providence Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. at the Church.

Burial will be at New Providence Baptist Cemetery. Brother Chris Tortorice and Brother Marvin Terry will be presiding and Peoples Chapel will be directing the services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Children’s of Alabama, Neuro-Oncology in memory of D’Wayne Parsons or St. Vincent’s of Birmingham NICU in memory of Slade Boler.
