Byron Lee Brakhage was born in Enid, OK to Leo and Elna Heintz Brakhage on May 31, 1943. He passed from this life on January 9, 2019 after a lengthy illness of COPD. He attended schools at Isabella, OK.

, Fairview, OK and Tulsa Technical College, Tulsa, OK. Byron served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard Military Police from 1966-1971. He retired from Tinker Federal Credit Union as an Executive Vice President after 29 years.

Byron was a long time member of Sunnylane United Methodist Church and served on many church committees. He also went on 2 Mission Trips with the Youth to Mexico and a Youth Fund. He loved traveling, golf and watching old TV Comedy shows.

Byron is survived by his wife, Myrt, 2 daughters; Robyn Shepherd (Frank) and Sheri Brakhage (Jack Roper). 5 grandchildren; Caleb Shepherd, Eli Shepherd (Hadley), Grace Dawkins (Bryan), Abigal Savage (Caleb) and Dalyce Upshaw. One sister, JoAnn Currie (Russell) and many nieces and nephews.

Byron was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gerald Brakhage and a sister, Audell Richardson. Byron chose to donate his body to O.U. Health Sciences. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 18th at 2:00 pm at Sunnylane United Methodist Church, 2020 S. Sunny Lane in Del City, OK.
