Funeral Services for Mr. James Calvin “Smoke” Wright will be held on Saturday, March 2. 2019 at noon at Second Nazareth Baptist Church 2300 Elmwood Avenue Columbia, SC 29204. A. A. Dicks Funeral Home is charge of these services.

James Calvin Wright affectionately known as “Smoke” was born June 15, 1965 in Columbia, SC to Ms. Brenda K. General. James transitioned to eternal rest on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized and became a faithful member of Second Nazareth Baptist Church where he served in the usher’s ministry until his health failed.

James was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina and graduated from C. A. Johnson High School class of 1983. He was a former employee of South Carolina Department of Mental Health as a mental health specialist. Smoke was a loving person who enjoyed life to the fullest.

He had so many friends because he never met a stranger. Smoke enjoyed entertaining his family and friends, listening to music and singing. He loved sports and was a die-hard Raiders’ fan.

Brave heart Smoke will be missed by all who knew and loved him. James was preceded in death by his brother, Brian G. General and his grand mother, Mrs. Helen Williams. Those left to cherish precious memories are: his mother, Brenda K. General; three sons, Jeremy (Joy) Jones of St. Louis, Missouri, Tyrell Sanders and Sterling Yon both of Columbia, SC.

; three sisters, Leslie Wright, Zonnie Frazier and Victoria Spencer all of Columbia, SC. ; one brother, Jimmie Gene (Adrain) Frazier of Columbia, SC. ; a niece, Monica Richardson; a nephew, Broderick J. Wright all of Columbia, SC.

; two aunts, Bernice Scott of Columbia, SC, and Dorothy Wright of Louisville, Kentucky; some very special friends, Charles Williams, Jamal, Marcus Jones, Glenn Jacobs, Thomasina Brown, Adrian Livington and Wilhelmia Rivers and host of other relatives and friends.
