Richard Allen Cismowski, 90, passed away suddenly on January 31, 2019. He was born November 30, 1928 to Clemence John and Mabel May (Rossbo) Cismowski in Riverside, CA, and was the youngest of their five children. He graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in 1948, and attended Riverside College.

Richard served in the U.S. Naval Reserve during the Korean War, beginning his service in 1953 and serving two years of active duty. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 36 years as a brakeman and conductor, retiring in 1986. In his younger years, he enjoyed square dancing and round dancing – an activity that led to him meeting his lifelong love, Joan (Stembridge), whom he married on April 26, 1963.

They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on April 27, 1963, and made their home in San Bernardino. He remained an active member of the church throughout his life; he and Joan served for several years as Stake and Regional dance directors, teaching dance to the young adults. Richard thoroughly enjoyed his dancing days, even competing in ballroom dancing with both his wife and his daughter, which brought him great joy.

He also enjoyed camping and hiking with his family, auto mechanics, and tinkering on various metal-shop projects. He will be remembered for his easy-going demeanor, his kindness and generosity, and for his smile and positive outlook on life. He was preceded in death by his father, Clemence; his mother, Mabel; his sister, Dorothea; and his brothers, Howard, Robert, and Charles.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, and his daughter, Kerry (Gianni), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him immensely To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mr Richard Allen Cismowski please visit our Sympathy Store.
